Guhya Chat encrypts every message end-to-end directly in your browser, using double ratchet DH and elliptic-curve key exchange (ECDH P-256) and AES-256-GCM encryption, backed by a memory-safe Rust/WebAssembly layer for the underlying math. One-to-one conversations use a custom forward-secrecy ratchet, so each message is encrypted with its own single-use key — meaning that even if one message's key were ever exposed, it would not expose any other message, past or future. Your private key is stored on your device as a non-extractable browser key, which means it can never be read out or exported by any script, not even a malicious one.
The Guhya Chat account footprint is intentionally minimal: signing up requires only an email address, a username, and your connection IP — no phone number and no uploaded contact list. The app carries no advertising, and no chat data is ever sold or shared with third parties.
